Refund Policy
Last updated: 24 June 2026 · Read alongside the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand)
1. Online Course | Digital Product
Our 12-Week Beginner Guitar Course is a digital product, delivered as audio lessons, video lessons, and downloadable lesson sheets.
Once your course materials have been accessed or downloaded, we are unable to offer a refund. This is standard practice for digital educational products, as access cannot practically be "returned" once granted.
If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from accessing your course materials, please contact us at myguitaracademynz@gmail.com within 7 days of purchase, and we will work with you to resolve the issue or, where appropriate, issue a refund.
2. Auckland In-Person Group Classes
Fees paid for in-person group classes (the 12-class and 24-class packages) are non-refundable once your batch has commenced.
- If you are unable to attend a scheduled class, that class cannot be refunded, rescheduled, or transferred to another student.
- Courses must be completed within their stated time period (3 months for the 12-class package, 6 months for the 24-class package). Classes not used within this period are forfeited.
- If you wish to cancel before your batch has commenced, contact us as soon as possible | cancellations made before the first class may be eligible for a partial refund at our discretion, less any administration costs already incurred (such as the cost of the guitar provided).
3. If We Cancel or Change a Class
If My Guitar Academy cancels a scheduled class or is unable to deliver a course as described, we will offer affected students an alternative class time, a make-up session, or a credit toward future sessions. In the event of a pandemic or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, classes may be moved online; this is not treated as a cancellation and does not entitle students to a refund, provided that equivalent instruction continues to be delivered.
4. Your Rights Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If our services fail to meet the guarantee of acceptable quality, or are not fit for the purpose you made known to us, you may be entitled to a remedy | which could include a repeat of the service, a partial refund, or in some cases a full refund, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.
If you believe your course or classes did not meet these guarantees, please contact us first so we can understand the issue and work with you on a fair resolution before any other steps are taken.
5. How to Request a Refund or Raise an Issue
To raise a refund request or service issue, email us with your name, order/enrolment details, and a description of the issue:
We aim to respond to all refund and service enquiries within 3–5 business days.
